Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria – The Court of Appeal of Nigeria sitting in Akure has affirmed Wole Oluyede as the duly nominated governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the upcoming election in Ekiti State.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by a three-member panel led by Justice Peter Chudi Obiorah, the appellate court set aside an earlier ruling of the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti which had nullified the party’s governorship primary election held in November 2025, Okay News reports.
The appellate court held that the primary election conducted under the leadership of the party’s National Working Committee chaired by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki complied with both the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act. The court therefore ruled that the exercise that produced Oluyede as candidate was valid.
With the decision, the court effectively resolved the internal dispute surrounding the party’s ticket ahead of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, clearing the way for the PDP to proceed with its preparations for the poll.
