Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby on Friday paid a personal visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Abuja House, London, the Presidency has said.

In a series of tweets today, the Presidency said the Archbishop expressed delight in the rapid recovery President Buhari has made from an undisclosed illness.

“The Archbishop pledged to continue praying for both the President and Nigeria,” the statement read in part.

In his response, President Buhari appreciated Welby for his support, noting that “the Archbishop has always stood by him at critical times”.

The President wished Welby well and prayed for “God’s continued grace in his spiritual duty of leading the Anglican Communion worldwide”.

Mr. Buhari has been left the country on May 7, 2017, for “medical follow-up”, over an undisclosed illness.
