JOS, Nigeria – The Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, on Thursday, April 2, 2026, led a high-powered team of security chiefs on an on-the-spot assessment of the security situation in Jos, as part of ongoing efforts to restore calm in the state, Okay News reports.

Upon arrival, the army chief was received by the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, highlighting continued collaboration between civil authorities and the military in addressing emerging security challenges.

During the visit, Shaibu received a detailed operational briefing from the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Folusho Oyinlola, focusing on ongoing operations and coordinated efforts with other security agencies to contain threats, protect lives, and stabilise affected communities.

He also engaged with community leaders and residents, assuring them of the military’s commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens while urging compliance with the curfew and cooperation with security agencies.

Local officials, including Jos North Chairman Dachung Bagos and councillor Ladi Dangyok, commended the visit, noting that it would strengthen public confidence and trust in ongoing security operations.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its resolve to work with other security agencies, the Plateau State Government, and stakeholders to address the crisis and ensure lasting peace across the state.
