Osogbo, NIGERIA – The Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, has officially handed over 5,300 newly enlisted recruits to the Depot Nigerian Army in Osogbo, Osun State, to commence their foundational military training.
The transition ceremony marks the formal commencement of the rigorous processing cycle for the new intakes. Okay News reports that an official statement released on Saturday, July 11, 2026, by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Directorate of Recruitment, Captain Abubakar Umar Hammanga, confirmed that the recruits are part of the successful 91 Regular Recruit Intake.
The selection follows a highly competitive, nationwide screening exercise meticulously supervised by the Director of the Directorate of Recruitment, Brigadier General I Sule. Over the next six months, the recruits will undergo an intensive instructional and physical conditioning programme designed to transform them into disciplined, combat-ready, and highly professional tactical personnel capable of reinforcing the Nigerian Army’s ongoing internal security operations across the country.
Receiving the large batch of intakes, the Commandant of the Depot Nigerian Army in Osogbo, Brigadier General BM Madaki, pledged to maintain the highest institutional standards of character development and combat readiness. Madaki emphasized that his instructors are fully equipped to instill core military values, tactical skills, and absolute discipline in the trainees, ensuring they graduate prepared to meet the complex operational demands of the modern defense architecture.
