Aston Villa grabbed a dramatic stoppage-time winner to defeat Arsenal 2–1 at Villa Park, blowing the Premier League title race wide open.

Substitute Emiliano Buendía smashed home in the 95th minute to seal a huge victory for Unai Emery’s side.

Villa had taken the lead in the first half through Matty Cash, who finished calmly after sustained pressure from the hosts.

Arsenal responded after the break, with Leandro Trossard converting in the 52nd minute to level the contest and shift the momentum.

But in a frantic finale, Villa capitalised on chaos in the Arsenal box. After several blocked efforts, the ball fell to Buendía, who rifled into the roof of the net with virtually the final kick of the match. The win lifts Aston Villa up to second place, just three points behind Arsenal, who suffer only their second league defeat of the season but continue to struggle with too many draws.
