Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has refuted circulating reports claiming he retired from politics, describing them as “entirely false and deliberately misleading,” Okay News reports. The rumours suggested that Atiku had decided to step aside after a supposed meeting with African Democratic Congress (ADC) stakeholders at the national level.
In a statement issued through his media office, Atiku clarified that his only recent political engagement was with ADC stakeholders in Adamawa State last Thursday. His team emphasized that any decision to leave politics would never be spread via rumours or third-party claims and would instead be formally announced by the Atiku Media Office.
The statement accused those spreading the falsehoods of attempting to undermine political opposition and destabilize mobilisation efforts. Atiku concluded by urging his supporters, ADC members, and Nigerians to disregard the misinformation and remain focused on “the collective effort to reclaim and rebuild our nation.”
