Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has publicly committed to fighting electoral malpractice ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, vowing to lead a transformative political movement under the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This declaration came following a strategic meeting with influential figures from Gombe State, including former Minister and Senator Idris Abdullahi, who led the delegation.

Taking to his official X account on Saturday, Atiku expressed his frustration with the ongoing economic hardships afflicting Nigerians, attributing these challenges to years of ineffective governance and entrenched corruption. “Enough is enough,” he asserted. “Nigerians cannot continue to suffer in the midst of abundant resources. The time has come to stand against the stealing of elections and reject the cycle of poor leadership.”

Okay.ng reports that Atiku emphasized the ADC coalition’s readiness to offer Nigerians a credible alternative, highlighting the party’s interim leadership as a testament to their commitment to integrity and visionary governance. “The quality of the interim leadership of the ADC is a clear indication that we are prepared to offer Nigerians a credible alternative. We will restore confidence in governance and deliver the kind of leadership that truly serves the people,” he said.

The former presidential candidate also acknowledged the Gombe delegation’s unwavering support, noting that their backing strengthens the ADC’s grassroots outreach and mission. Reflecting on past political alliances, Atiku recalled his support for Danjuma Goje’s governorship in 2003, underscoring the enduring nature of such partnerships. “The stakeholders reminded me of the foundation we laid in Gombe when I supported the emergence of Danjuma Goje as governor in 2003. That gesture continues to resonate today, and I am proud of the progress we can achieve together once again,” he added.
