Atiku Abubakar

Nigeria’s Former Vice President has donated his birthday gifts of four cows and 250 kg (five bags) of granulated sugar to Internally Displaced Persons living in and around the Adamawa State capital, Yola.

Three of the cows, and the sugar, came from Aliko Dangote of Dangote Sugar.

The fourth cow was donated by AUN’s Assistant Vice President of HR & Planning, Nourah Bamalli, in appreciation of Atiku’s compassion to IDPs.

Last week, the Adamawa Peace Initiative, a pro-peace group that has been active throughout Adamawa State since 2012, handled the distribution of the cows and sugar at four centres, St Theresa’s Cathedral, Jama’atul Nasril Islam, and the Kinjiri Foundation in Jimeta, Yola; women IDPs congregated at the American University of Nigeria football pitch to share one.

The consignment from Dangote was delivered on November 24 by two staff members of Savannah Sugar Company: Mr Joshua Zinas, Admin Manager, and Mr Sani Ibrahim, Sales & Marketing Manager. The duo tendered a cover letter by the Group MD of Dangote Sugar, Engineer Abdullahi Sule. They were received by AUN President Margee Ensign on behalf of the Founder.

Commenting on the distribution of the gift to IDPs, Dr. Ensign said the distribution is another example of the Founder’s wish that all birthday presents given to him this year be channelled to IDPs.
