On Monday, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar led a delegation to visit his former boss, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Accompanying Atiku were former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, Senator Abdul Ningi, and former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Tambuwal.

While the details of their discussion remain undisclosed, the meeting comes amid growing efforts by opposition figures to strategize ahead of the 2027 presidential election, aiming to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Atiku served as Obasanjo’s deputy from May 1999 to May 2007. He was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, where he finished second to President Bola Tinubu of the APC.

Now 78, Atiku has pursued the presidency for nearly three decades.
