The arrest was in connection with the claim made by the Chocolate City boss on his Twitter page in which he alleged that five secondary school students were killed in the Southern Kaduna Crisis.

Following the series of tweets in which he alleged the killing of the secondary school students, Audu Maikori had issued an official statement retracting the claim stating that his driver had lied to him to extort him.

Audu Maikori following his release took to his social media page to thank fans for their support.

He wrote:

1.Yesterday I was released on bail due to the immense support & voice of all the great people in Nigeria. I do not take your support lightly

2.even though my agitations were for #SouthernKaduna ,the whole of Nigeria spoke with one voice & showed that we aren’t as divided as they say

3. The agitations are about a #FreeNigeria, freedom of speech & upholding democracy. It’s not about religion, ethnicity or politics. God bless
