Audu Maikori Sues Gov. El-Rufai Over Violation of Fundamental Human Rights

By Farouk Mohammed

Chocolate City founder Audu Maikori has sued Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state for N10billion over gross violation of his fundamental human rights.

His lawyers, Ballason’s Chambers, filed the suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/385/17) at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Maikori is praying the court to enforce his rights against undue harassment and intimidation by the Kaduna state Government, the state Governor and the Nigerian Police.

It was gathered that the suit came up for hearing on Tuesday before the trial judge, Justice John Tsoho.

Maikori was apprehended by police operatives over incitement, based on a petition by the state government.

But the police later released him on bail and further cleared him of any complicity.

However, he was re-arrested and taken to Kaduna, after Governor El-Rufai, during the Social Media Week 2017, publicly said he was going to prosecute him

The music promoter was then jailed for four days. Thereafter, he was charged to a Kaduna State Magistrate Court, before he was eventually released on bail on medical grounds
