Caroline Wozniacki has won her first Grand Slam title after beating Simona Halep at the Australian Open on Saturday in Melbourne.

With this feat, the 27-year-old will replace Halep as number one in the world rankings on Monday.

The Dane got the better of the Romanian 7-6 (7-2) 3-6 6-4 in punishing conditions to win a major title after 43 attempts.

“I dreamt of this moment for so many years, and to be here today is a dream come true,” elated Wozniacki said after the game.
