Awad Ibn Auf, former Sudan’s defence minister, has stepped down as the chief of the military council.

Okay Nigeria had reported on Thursday that Awad Ibn Ouf took an oath as chief of the military council after successfully outcasting Omar al-Bashir as president.

However, on Friday, he announced his decision to step down at a nationwide broadcast.

He will be replaced by Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan, who was appointed as deputy.
