President Bola Tinubu has named Ayo Sotinrin as the new Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), effective immediately, as announced by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.

Ayo Sotinrin’s professional journey is characterized by a robust blend of financial acumen and deep engagement in agribusiness and development finance. His extensive experience spans both the private and public sectors, positioning him as a well-rounded leader.

Notably, his tenure as Group CEO of SAO Group showcased his ability to drive large-scale agricultural projects, including the development of significant oil palm plantations and diverse agricultural operations. This demonstrates a practical understanding of the challenges and opportunities within Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.

Furthermore, Sotinrin’s expertise in development finance is evident in his role as head of SAO Capital, where he facilitated substantial infrastructure and development funding. His track record includes the successful mobilization of significant capital for critical projects, such as the Akure Water Supply Project. His public sector experience further reinforces his credentials, with roles as Special Adviser on Environment and Urban Development and consultancy work for prominent international organizations like the World Bank and the African Development Bank. His experience in international banking, with roles at institutions such as the Royal Bank of Scotland International and Deutsche Bank, adds to his diverse skill set.

Sotinrin’s educational background complements his professional experience, with an Executive MBA from Saïd Business School, Oxford University, a Master’s degree in Engineering Business Management from Warwick University, and an Advanced Diploma in Environmental Conservation. This combination of practical experience and academic qualifications underscores his ability to provide strategic leadership to the Bank of Agriculture.
