At least 30 worshippers were kidnapped when armed bandits attacked the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday. Three people were reportedly killed during the assault.

Chief Olusegun Olukotun, a community leader whose four relatives were among those abducted, said the bandits have begun contacting families, demanding ₦100 million per person. Olukotun, who narrowly escaped with one of his wards, revealed that victims were grouped by family for ransom negotiations.

Pastor Abiodun Bamidele of the church confirmed that 30 to 35 members were taken. The attack occurred during a Thanksgiving service for 18 members previously kidnapped and recently rescued.

In response, youths of Eruku blocked the Ilorin–Kabba highway in protest, criticizing the lack of security during the hour-long attack. Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has called for urgent additional security deployments to curb further attacks, as the region continues to face a wave of insecurity.
