The deadline for the registration of the Bank Verification Number has thrown many customers into a panic.

Out of fear that they might not be able to operate their accounts past today, many have flooded the various branches of their banks in order to register for the procedure.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has clarified that account holders who do not register for the BVN will still be able to carry out bank restrictions, but would have restrictions on e-banking services.

“Without BVN, you still have access to your cash but services/facilities (internet/mobile banking, loans etc) will have some restrictions”, the director of the corporate communications department of the CBN, Ibrahim Muazu, said.

Many users on social media have shared photos of their various branches, showing the humongous crowds.
