Barack Obama Set To Visit US Mosque For The First Time

President Barack Obama will make his first visit to a U.S. mosque on Wednesday, and it comes at a time when Muslim-Americans say they’re confronting unprecedented levels of bias.

According to US Today, Obama will travel to the Islamic Society of Baltimore, which houses a mosque and school that runs from kindergarten through 12th grade. The visit comes one week after Obama became the first sitting president to speak at the Israeli Embassy. There, he warned of growing anti-Semitism in the world.

Obama’s message in Baltimore will follow a similar tack. The White House said he will focus on the need to speak out against bigotry and reject indifference. It’s the kind of effort that Muslim-Americans say they’ve been waiting for from America’s political and religious leaders.
