Bauchi, NIGERIA – Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has distributed a fleet of official vehicles to 14 newly appointed emirs and over 100 district heads as part of a strategic push to strengthen grassroots governance.
Okay News reports that the presentation took place at the Government House in Bauchi on Monday, April 13, 2026. The Governor explained that the initiative is designed to enhance the mobility of traditional rulers, allowing them to carry out their duties more effectively and deepen community engagement across the state.
The vehicle distribution featured a variety of models, including 14 GMC saloon cars, Toyota buses, and Hilux vehicles for the emirs, while over 100 Toyota Camry cars were allocated to district heads. Governor Mohammed emphasized that this support will eventually extend to all emirates, chiefdoms, and districts to ensure inclusive governance.
During the ceremony, the Governor urged the traditional rulers to remain non-partisan and uphold high standards of integrity, stressing their vital role in promoting peace and stability. The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Isa Babayo Tilde, echoed these sentiments, pledging continued collaboration with traditional institutions.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, expressed gratitude to the state government. He assured the Governor that the vehicles would be used responsibly to serve the interests of the people and maintain the dignity of their respective offices.
