LAGOS, Nigeria – Big Brother Naija has introduced a new gameplay twist that will guarantee two Season 11 housemates places in the finale while making them ineligible to win the show’s ₦160 million grand prize.

The twist, called The Gambit, will apply to one male and one female housemate selected by viewers during the opening week of the competition.

Okay News reports that there will be no eviction vote this week. Instead, viewers will vote for the contestants they want to assume the Gambit roles.

The male housemate and female housemate with the highest number of votes will remain in the house until the end of the season. They may participate in tasks, earn rewards and influence the game, but neither will be allowed to win the main prize.

All housemates are eligible for selection except the first Head of House, Chimsom Chuka, who is protected during the opening week.

The organisers said contestants had accepted the possibility of becoming a Gambit before entering the house. Once selected, the role will remain in place for the rest of the season.

The arrangement changes the usual opening-week voting format by asking the audience to grant immunity rather than decide who should leave the competition.

Season 11, titled “Show Ya Sef”, began on July 26, 2026. Chimsom became the first Head of House after recording the fastest time in the opening challenge.

The two Gambit housemates are expected to be announced after voting closes. The organisers have not indicated that the roles can be transferred or cancelled later in the season.

The twist ensures that two contestants remain central to the programme’s story until the finale while preserving the main prize contest for the remaining eligible housemates.

The format also creates a separate strategic contest inside the house because the selected pair will retain influence over nominations, alliances and weekly tasks without being eligible for the season’s biggest reward.
