Fabregas has opened up about being on the bench says its a new situation for him.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas says he is not hiding from a “new situation” of spending so much time on the bench this season.

Fabregas, 29, has started just five of Chelsea’s 23 Premier League games so far this term, appearing off the bench on nine occasions as Antonio Conte’s side have moved into a commanding position at the top of the table.

Such a secondary role is something new for the Spain international, who started 33 games in each of his two Premier League seasons with Chelsea, after always starting at least 20 league matches each campaign over the last decade with Barcelona and Arsenal.

Fabregas said on Movistar Plus that he was having to get used to a different role this season, while vowing to battle to show Conte he deserved more regular playing time.

“It is a new situation for me, and I am not hiding from it,” Fabregas said. “I am going to fight until the end to play more, I know that I can. You have seen that every time I play I have a place in the team.”

Fabregas will be hoping to make an impact for Chelsea on Saturday when the Premier League leaders take on his former club Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.
