LAGOS, Nigeria – Afrobeats singer Bella Shmurda has admitted that a reckless and extravagant lifestyle nearly led him to financial ruin. In a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the music star opened up about his past financial mistakes and how he has since changed his approach to money management.
Okay News reports that Shmurda revealed that at the height of his initial success, he spent money impulsively on items he didn’t need and took on the heavy financial burden of sponsoring his friends’ lavish habits. “I used to have a lot of money but I rushed things. I wish I was wise then. I was just buying things extravagantly, things I eventually had no need for,” he confessed.
The singer detailed specific instances of his recklessness, including accommodating up to ten friends at once and purchasing three cars simultaneously just to ensure his group could travel in a convoy. “I was reckless,” he added, noting that as he earns money now, he carefully considers every financial move.
Reflecting on the lessons learned, Bella Shmurda urged his colleagues in the industry and his fans to exercise wisdom in managing their finances to avoid the pain of learning the hard way.
