Abuja, NIGERIA – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has officially presented Letters of Credence to three newly appointed high-level diplomats on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Okay News gathered that the ceremony, held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, marked the formal accreditation of the following Ambassador-Designates:

1. Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu (United Kingdom)
2. Ambassador Ayodele Oke (France)
3. Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York)

In a statement following the presentation, the Minister explained the diplomatic significance of the Letters of Credence, describing them as formal instruments issued by a Head of State to authorize diplomats to represent Nigeria’s interests abroad. The letters serve as an official request to host nations and the United Nations to grant “credence” or trust to the appointed representatives.

The appointment of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim to the UN and the deployment of seasoned officials to key European capitals like London and Paris are seen as strategic moves by the Tinubu administration to strengthen Nigeria’s global diplomatic footprint. Minister Ojukwu congratulated the envoys and wished them a successful “tour of duty” in their respective stations.
