Senator Ali Ndume (APC/Borno South) has decried what he termed ”worrisome” resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in Borno state, northeast Nigeria.

The Senator who is currently on suspension from the upper legislative chamber, stressed that he would have moved a motion for the invitation of security operatives to explain reasons for the resurgence.

”In Borno, we were already getting relaxed; we were sleeping with our two eyes closed. Now we are faced with a new challenge.

”If I were at the Senate Chambers, I would have moved a motion to invite those concerned to explain the recent events to the National Assembly,” Ndume told newsmen in Maiduguri, the state capital.

According to him, the explanation of the Security operatives would have helped the government to understand better why it seems the terrorists are now gaining ground.

”May be they have challenges of funds; or logistics. It would be useful to know their concerns.”

Ndume suggested a total approach that would go after all the elements, “otherwise we will continue to have occasional situation like this.

”The situation is threatening. The last attack in Maiduguri was daring. Everyone should join hands toward ridding Nigeria of the remnants of the insurgents,” he said.
