The Chief of Army Staff, Kenneth Minimah, on Saturday said that Nigerians should expect more positive results very soon in the fight against insurgency.

Mr. Minimah, a Lieutenant General, stated this while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after he commissioned a reconstructed road and the renovated Buffalo Mess at Depot NA, Zaria, Kaduna State.

He said that with the relocation of command and control centre to Maiduguri and Yola, Nigerians should “expect the best and positive results soon” in the anti-terror war in the North East.

“With the pronouncements of President Muhammadu Buhari and the relocation of Command and Control Centre to North-East in Maiduguri and Yola, we expect the very best result soon.

“The pressure on the insurgents will become increased and we foresee a greater prospect for the war favourable to the Federal Government and Nigeria,” he said.

Mr. Minimah said that the Nigerian Army would continue fighting to “get rid of this insurgency out of our fatherland.

“As members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, we will continue to fight in defence of the sovereignty of this country,” he said.

The Army boss lauded the commandant, Depot Nigerian Army, for a job well done.

He also urged other office holders to emulate the good example of how to add impetus to whatever command they find themselves.

Earlier, the Depot Commandant, Brig-Gen. Bright Fibionumama commended the COAS for accomplishing all the promises made to the depot.

He identified some of the promises to include renovation of recruit line and lecture hall, construction of obstacle cords, renovation and furnishing of the training companies and provision of food carrying vehicles.

Others, according to him, are provision of water tanker for the welfare of recruits when in the bush for exercises and provision of fire fighting vehicle.

While assuring that the reconstructed road was central in the training of recruits, Mr. Fibionumama said before now, the road was impassable to both vehicles and pedestrians.
