Boko Haram terrorists have killed at least 42 people in two Borno State communities, reports say.

The attacks are said to have taken place in sister villages, Debiro Biu and Debiro Hawul on Monday, June 22 and Tuesday, June 23, 2015, according to AFP.

Debiro Biu was reportedly attacked on Monday while Debiro Hawul was invaded the following day.

“We received reports of attacks by suspected Boko Haram gunmen on the two villages, in which 42 deaths were recorded,” a police officer told AFP.

The attacks were also confirmed by Umaru Markus, a fleeing resident of Debiro Hawul, who said that 30 terrorists had stormed the town in a convoy of pick-up trucks and motorcycles.

“They came around 12:30 am (1130 GMT on Tuesday) and opened fire on the village, which sent people scampering into the bush to escape the attack. The gunmen slaughtered 22 people who were not fast enough in fleeing and went about looting homes, grains silos and drug stores. It never occurred to us we would be the next target,” he added.

Meanwhile, in nearby Yobe State, the deaths of 10 people were also blamed on Boko Haram after a young female suicide bomber attacked a market on Tuesday.
