The head coach of the Brazilian U17 national team, Carlos Amadeu, has admitted that his side’s failure to bury the chances they created during their quarter final stage against Nigeria cost them the game.
The Celesao lost to Nigeria 3-0, the second time in about one and a half months, but the Brazilian coach has insisted that his team wasn’t bad, they did their best but just could not take their chances.
The three goals from Nigeria came within the space of five minutes in the first half of the game, and Amadeu has said that it was a learning process for the kids that it wasn’t a do or die affiar.
“We knew it was important for us to make the most of our opportunities, especially if we dominated the game at some point, but we didn’t.”
“Their goals were scored in only five minutes because of specific chances, not because we were not balanced. We would like to have put Nigeria behind on the scoreboard, but we failed to score.”
“For these kids, everything that has happened here is part of their learning process,” Brazil coach.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eaglets head coach said that beating Brazil means so much to him and will also boost the morals of his players as they await their next opponent for the semi final clash of the tourney.
“Is not like we scored three goals and that was it. Before that our side had 15 very good minutes, when they moved the ball around as we knew they could. You have to give credit to my kids, who were tranquil and kept their cool to deal with the Brazil pressure and then scored at the right time. For them, to beat Brazil is a big confidence boost.
