Chelsea Football Club, the London-based professional football club competing in the English Premier League, has officially announced a mutual decision to part ways with its head coach, Enzo Maresca, ending his tenure at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Enzo Maresca, the Italian football manager and former professional player, departs the club after overseeing a period marked by notable silverware and high expectations. During his time in charge, Maresca guided Chelsea to victory in the Union of European Football Associations Conference League and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association Club World Cup, achievements that placed his reign among significant chapters in the club’s modern history.

Okay News reports that the decision was communicated through an official statement published on Chelsea Football Club’s website, where the club emphasized that the separation was reached amicably and with a clear focus on the team’s long-term ambitions across domestic and international competitions.

The statement noted, “During his time at the Club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the Club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the Club.”

Chelsea further explained that the timing of the decision was influenced by ongoing competitive targets still within reach this season. The club remains active in four major competitions, including its pursuit of qualification for the Union of European Football Associations Champions League, Europe’s premier club tournament.

“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions, including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track,” the statement added.

The club concluded by extending its appreciation and best wishes to Maresca, acknowledging his role in delivering international trophies and contributing to Chelsea’s evolving football identity during his tenure.
