A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has delivered a judgment convicting the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, on three out of the seven terrorism charges brought forward by the Federal Government.

The ruling, issued on Thursday, was handed down by Presiding Judge James Omotosho, who stated that the prosecution had supplied evidence that directly linked Kanu to actions deemed threatening to the nation. Okay News reports that the court highlighted materials tendered during the proceedings, including video interviews in which Kanu was heard issuing violent threats against Nigeria and its citizens.

According to the court, these recordings, submitted as key exhibits, formed a substantial part of the basis for the conviction. Judge Omotosho emphasised that the content of the videos submitted by the prosecution met the threshold required for the charges on which Kanu was found guilty.

The matter has now moved to the next phase, with further details expected to be released as proceedings continue.
