Mrs Hannah Idowu Dideolu Awolowo, wife of the late sage and foremost political leader of Yoruba extraction, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, is dead.
Mrs HID Awolowo, as she was popularly known, was aged 99 at the time of death.
The matriarch of the Awolowo family died in her sleep in her country home of Ikenne in Ogun state.
One of Mrs HID Awolowo’s daughters, Dr Tokumbo Awolowo, is said to have confirmed her death through a text message to Sahara Reporters.
One of Mrs HID Awolowo’s grand-daughters is Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, wife of Nigeria’s vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN.
