BREAKING: Nigeria Misses Automatic World Cup Spot Despite 4-0 Win Over Benin

By Oluwadara Akingbohungbe

The Super Eagles of Nigeria delivered an impressive 4-0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic but still failed to qualify automatically for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Victor Osimhen led the charge with a remarkable hat-trick, while Frank Onyeka added another goal to seal the win for Nigeria. Despite the dominant display, the result was not enough as South Africa also triumphed over Rwanda with a 3-0 victory to remain at the top of the group standings.

According to Okay News, the Nigerian side had gone into the crucial match hoping to secure the automatic qualification spot but were left disappointed after the final whistle when the group table favored the South Africans.

The win, however, boosts Nigeria’s morale ahead of the next qualification phase, as the team looks to seal their place through the playoffs.

More details are expected soon as the Super Eagles continue their quest for a World Cup ticket.
