The Nigerian film industry, widely known as Nollywood and regarded as one of the largest film industries in the world, has been thrown into deep mourning following reports of the death of veteran actress and producer, Allwell Ademola.
Allwell Ademola, a Nigerian actress and film producer who was prominent in the Yoruba-language segment of Nollywood, reportedly passed away on Saturday, December Twenty Seven, Two Thousand And Twenty Five, at the age of forty three.
Entertainment industry sources disclosed that Ademola allegedly suffered a heart attack at her residence before she was rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite efforts to save her life, she was confirmed dead, according to information circulating widely within Nigeria’s film community. Okay News reports that the news spread rapidly among colleagues and fans, triggering an outpouring of shock and grief across social media platforms.
The sudden passing of the actress prompted emotional reactions from several well-known figures within Nollywood. Faithia Williams, a Nigerian actress and filmmaker with decades of experience in the industry, took to Instagram to express her sorrow. She wrote, “Haaaa. This hit me so bad. Eniobanke. Allahu Akbar..Allwell”.
Another leading Yoruba actress, Mide Martins, shared a photograph of Ademola on Facebook while expressing anguish over the loss. Her post read, “BLACK SATURDAY……This is not fair😭 May God forgive your shortcomings Allwell😭😭😭”.
Actor Damola Olatunji also joined in mourning the late actress by posting a candlelight image with a short but reflective caption that read, “Life is a mirage.”
Bidemi Kosoko, a Nigerian actress and daughter of veteran actor Jide Kosoko, openly expressed disbelief at the reports. In a series of emotional messages, she wrote, “No way. No, no,, no. Ko possible ooo. This isn’t true. God forbid, in Jesus’ name. ‘I refuse to accept this one Lai Lai God forbid. Olorun oni je. Just reply to my message, abeg Oremi/ aunty mi. I will wait patiently for your reply.’”
