An explosion has reportedly struck travelers along the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Yazid Abubakar, confirmed the incident to newsmen, saying the blast “just happened” and promising updates as more information becomes available.

Videos circulating online show travelers fleeing in panic from the scene. Social media users on X reacted swiftly, with Nuhu Sada, a former SDP candidate for Kaduna State House of Assembly, describing the incident as “another tragic attack on innocent travelers” and urging security agencies to act quickly.

Another user, #DanKatsina50, reported that the blast, suspected to be an IED planted by bandits, caused deaths and property destruction, with casualties still unconfirmed.
