NIGERIA — The West African Examinations Council released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School Candidates on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
The examination body announced the development through an official update published on its verified social media handle.
Okay News reports that the West African Examinations Council directed candidates to generate a Personal Identification Number and serial number on its official portal, waec.org, before accessing their results via waecdirect.org.
The process requires candidates to input their examination number and the National Identification Number used during registration, followed by contact details for One-Time Password verification.
A total of approximately 1.96 million candidates from over 24,200 secondary schools across Nigeria participated in the examination, which took place from April 21, 2026, to June 19, 2026.
While the majority of examination centers utilized the traditional pen-and-paper format, an increased number of institutions selected the computer-based testing option compared to previous years.
The West African Examinations Council previously stated that examination results would be released approximately 45 days following the conclusion of the final paper.
The development follows the earlier release of results for the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, 2026 First Series.
