Fabian Hurzeler, 31, has made history by becoming the youngest full-time manager of an English Premier League club, signing a contract with Brighton until 2027. The Texas-born coach led St Pauli to the German Bundesliga second division title last season, impressing Brighton chairman Tony Bloom with his exceptional work.

Hurzeler will take charge of a squad that includes players older than him, such as James Milner, Danny Welbeck, and Lewis Dunk. Despite his youth, Hurzeler has a strong coaching pedigree, having worked with the German federation at various age group levels.

The new head coach expressed his excitement about joining Brighton, citing the club’s unique history and bold vision for the future. St Pauli sporting director Andreas Bornemann praised Hurzeler’s excellent work and wished him success in his new role.

Hurzeler surpasses Ryan Mason, who was briefly Tottenham’s interim boss at 29, as the youngest coach to lead a Premier League team on a full-time basis since the division’s creation in 1992.
