The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday said President Muhammadu Buhari never described his ministers as noisemakers who will not add any value to his government, as being speculated.
The party also faulted the claim by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that ministers would be useless in the APC- controlled federal government.
The PDP had said the disposition of the President was not to appoint aides, but to run the government as a sole administrator.
It alleged that this was the reason Buhari had been shifting the dates when he would appoint members of his cabinet, adding that the President had also tagged ministers “noisemakers.”
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Lai Mohammed, however, said the President was not referring to ministers either past, present or future as noisemakers but those agitating for the appointment of certain individuals as ministers.
“I think they have chosen to quote the President out of context. What the President was saying in essence was that it is only those who are interested in the positions that are making the noise.
“What he meant was that it is people who want the ministerial positions to come to a particular person or region that are the ones making the noise. So, it is all politics. I think Mr. President has the highest respect for politicians, the party and those who will work with him as ministers,” he said.
