The Presidency has reacted to claims by Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose that ex President Goodluck Jonathan was invited to attend the inauguration of US president-elect Donald Trump but that President Muhammadu Buhari was snubbed.

Fayose spoke through Lere Olayinka, his spokesman.

Buhari’s spokesman Shehu Garba took to Facebook to address Fayose:

“Gentlemen, I think we should respond to refute this falsehood. The US does not invite Heads of State or President to the inauguration of their Presidents. Our President could therefore not have been snubbed,” he said.

The inauguration is scheduled to hold in Washington on Friday.
