Burnley, UNITED KINGDOM — Following the club’s confirmed relegation to the Championship, Burnley Football Club announced on Thursday, that head coach Scott Parker has left his position by mutual consent.
The departure comes after a challenging Premier League campaign where the Clarets managed only four victories, ultimately sealing their fate earlier this month. Despite the disappointment of this season, Parker leaves behind a historic legacy at Turf Moor, having masterminded a record-breaking 2024/25 promotion campaign that included an extraordinary 31-match unbeaten run and 30 clean sheets. In a parting statement, the 45-year-old former England midfielder described leading the club as an “immense privilege” but acknowledged that both parties agreed it was the right time to move in a different direction.
Okay News reports that the club has already initiated the search for a permanent successor to lead their 2026/27 campaign.
The Burnley board has appointed Michael Jackson, Parker’s assistant and a familiar face to the Lancashire faithful, to take charge of the first team for the remaining four fixtures of the season. Jackson, who has previously served in interim capacities for the club, is tasked with navigating a difficult run-in, starting with a high-stakes clash against Leeds United this Friday.
