Abuja, NIGERIA — The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has officially confirmed a cybersecurity breach involving unauthorized access to its information systems, sparking a major review of its digital security infrastructure.
Okay News reports that the Commission discovered the incident on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and immediately activated emergency response protocols to contain the threat. The CAC is currently working alongside the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and other relevant government security agencies to determine exactly how much data was compromised and the overall impact of the hack.
While the Commission stated that the unauthorized access was limited to “aspects” of its systems, management has already implemented additional safeguards to prevent further intrusion. The CAC is responsible for the registration and regulation of all companies in Nigeria, making its database a critical piece of national infrastructure.
In light of the breach, the Commission has issued an urgent advisory to all business owners, lawyers, and stakeholders. Users of the CAC portal are strongly encouraged to log in and monitor their business records for any unauthorized changes. Additionally, the management advised stakeholders to update their login credentials immediately and to be wary of suspicious emails or phone calls from individuals claiming to represent the Commission.
The CAC has reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of Nigeria’s corporate registry and promised to provide further updates as the investigation with NITDA and other partners progresses.
