The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has launched a centre dedicated to the bulk registration of Point of Sale (POS) operators.

Hussaini Magaji, the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CAC, unveiled the new centre situated at the commission’s FCT Zone 5 office. The inauguration follows a recent agreement reached between the commission and fintech firms to register POS agents.

Magaji emphasized that the centre aims to streamline requests from operators in the fintech sector who have voluntarily submitted their agents and merchants for regularization with the CAC.

In a statement shared on its official X handle, the CAC quoted Magaji as highlighting the initiative’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for financial inclusion among youth and the commitment to combat fraud and financial crimes in the country.

“He therefore restated his resolve to ensure compliance with the provisions of Section 863 (1) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, and the CBN guidelines for Agent Banking, 2013,” the post reads.

Magaji assured that the centre is fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and adequate personnel to handle applications efficiently, operating 24 hours a day.

The event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Tokoni Peter, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Development and Innovation, and Salihu Dasuki, Special Adviser to the President on ICT Policy, Office of the Vice-President.
