The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has given Morocco the go-ahead to host the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The North African nation was handed the hosting rights following a decision made by CAF Executive Committee in a meeting held in Nigeria on Saturday.

Kenya was stripped of the hosting rights after failing to provide facilities vital for the competition, especially the stadia, as promised in the beginning of the year.

Morocco, it is understood, beat competition from Ethiopia and Equatorial Guinea, and the cities of Casablanca, Agadir, Marakech and Tangier have been selected to host the biannual tournament.
The CHAN tournament is a competition played by players plying their trade in the domestic leagues in Africa, and it is scheduled to be played between January and February 2018.

With the decision of the CAF emergency committee set to be communicated today about the country that qualifies for CHAN 2018 since new host Morocco already qualified, Egypt is most likely to replace Kenya as the other team.

The Nigerian CHAN Eagles qualified to take part in the CHAN competition after beating Benin Republic 2-0 in Nigeria to qualify 2-1 on aggregate.
