Maiduguri, Nigeria – Nigeria’s top military leadership has ordered a renewed and intensified offensive against terrorist groups following recent security incidents in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Okay News reports that the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, alongside the Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu, visited troops under Operation HADIN KAI at the Maimalari Cantonment for an operational assessment.

During the visit, the CDS commended troops for their resilience and sustained pressure on insurgents, while directing commanders to strengthen intelligence gathering, adopt proactive strategies, and maintain momentum in ongoing operations to prevent further attacks.

The Army Chief also charged field commanders to intensify offensives and maintain a “never again” posture against terrorist threats, particularly during critical periods such as Ramadan. He assured troops of increased support and resources to enhance operational effectiveness.

Military authorities disclosed that recent operations have led to the neutralisation of over 200 terrorist elements, significantly weakening their capabilities. The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on insurgents and restoring lasting peace and stability across the North East.
