Channels Television has confirmed the availability of President Goodluck Jonathan and General Muhammadu Buhari, for the station’s presidential debate, billed for February 3rd, 2015.

This was revealed during the station’s customary, “News at 10″ broadcast. The debate, which would see both leading presidential candidates present their various plans for the country, is jointly organised by Channels Television, as well as Arise magazine and the Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN).

It would be recalled, that the issue of presidential debate had become a trending topic in the past week, in the build up to the elections. The All Progressive Congress (APC) had issued a statement, stating that her flag bearer, Gen. Buhari would not be taking part in the BON/ NEDG – organised debates, citing BON’s allegiance as a government agency, as a reason for the suspected bias. However, the Director General of NEDG, Taiwo Alike came out to say, that his organisation had not received any formal notice of any party’s boycott and reassured of the group’s integrity, fairness and equity standard.
