The building which was home to a Baptist church, was turned into a marijuana farm by the new tenants. Police in Lancashire, United Kingdom have discovered a £250,000 marijuana farm in a former church building during a raid on Sunday, November 30.

The police were alerted by a member of the public of a disturbance in the building that was home to
Burnley Lane Baptist Church and found around 600 marijuana plants.

The landlord of the former church building which was sold in 2008 and rebuilt for another purpose said he was “shocked to the core” to find out about his tenants’ line of work.

“I rented that part of the building around four months ago to some guys who wanted to set up a computer business. Recently they changed the locks, which made me suspicious, but they continued to pay their rent. They seemed like ordinary, respectable people ” the landlord told the Lancashire Echo.

The farm was found in the part of the building the church used as Sunday school. The Baptist church congregation vacated the building when they joined with a local Methodist church.
No arrest has been made so far in connection to the marijuana as inspectors spent much of Monday collecting evidence from the scene, including plants, lamps and tin foil.
