The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a Nigerian paramilitary agency responsible for the protection of critical national assets and public safety, has confirmed the arrest of eight suspects following a violent attack on one of its operational outposts in Katsina State, located in northern Nigeria.

The incident occurred at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps outpost in Koraman Nayalli, within Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, an area in Katsina metropolis, the capital city of Katsina State. The metropolis serves as a major administrative and commercial center in the state.

Okay News reports that the confirmation was made by the Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Command, Buhari Hamisu, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria, Nigeria’s state-owned news service, in Katsina on Monday, December 29, 2025.

According to Hamisu, the attack followed a protest by a group of individuals described as miscreants, who were reacting to a security raid carried out on Sunday that reportedly led to the death of a suspected drug peddler identified as Uzairu, popularly known as “Dan’kuda.”

“The miscreants in large numbers stormed the premises of the outpost at Koraman Nayalli, Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, and set the building ablaze,” Hamisu said.

He added that during the attack, three motorcycles and other operational items belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps outpost were destroyed by fire.

Hamisu further disclosed that the attackers, some of whom were armed with weapons, also moved toward nearby security formations, including another Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps outpost and a station of the Nigeria Police Force located at Filin Kanada, raising wider security concerns within the metropolis.

“The Special Response Squads from Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and police controlled the situation through adequate security measures, and normalcy had since been restored,” he added.

In response to the incident, the Katsina State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abbas Moriki, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. Hamisu revealed that Moriki personally visited the damaged outpost to assess the situation.

“He further conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the outpost and constituted a seven-man committee to ensure proper investigation,” the spokesperson said.

Moriki also issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal activities and economic sabotage across the state, urging them to desist or face the full weight of the law.

The arrests, according to the command, form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security and deter future attacks on government security infrastructure in Katsina State.
