The trial of suspected kidnapper, Chukwueme “Evans” Onwuamadike, before a Special Offences Court in Lagos was stalled on Wednesday.

Evans’ trial could not continue as his new counsel, Nuel Brown, again asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file properly.

The prosecuting counsel, Adebayo Haroun, did not object to the request for an adjournment.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, therefore, adjourned the case till October 5 and 19, 2018, for the continuation of trial.

In the four counts before the court, Evans is standing trial alongside Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba.

They were charged with kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms.

The defendants were also accused of kidnapping one Sylvanus Ahamonu, holding him hostage for at least nine weeks and collecting a ransom of $420,000 from his family.
