The Federal High Court, Abuja on Thursday adjourned the case of a former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, to July 7 and 8 at the request of the prosecution counsel.

The prosecution counsel, Chike Okoroma, sought for an adjournment to enable his team prepare tables highlighting payments made into and from various accounts.

Okoroma also said the adjournment would enable the prosecution make available some other documents that needed to be tendered.

The prosecution witness, Michael Wetkas, had told the court on Wednesday that the Jigawa State Government had made several payments into the Access Bank account of Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company.

Wetkas said this while being led in evidence.

He said the monies were purportedly paid to the company for contracts that investigation revealed were never executed.

The trial judge adjourned the case till July 7 and 8 since the request was not objected to by the defence team.

Lamido and his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, are standing trial on a 27 count charge bordering on money laundering.
