Abuja, Nigeria: Nigeria’s Federal High Court denied bail on Thursday, July 16, 2026, to a man facing terrorism charges for allegedly planning multiple attacks on schools in the Federal Capital Territory.
Okay News reports that Nigerian Justice Joyce Abdulmalik refused the bail application for John Jude Agbo after ruling there was no evidence to guarantee he would not jump bail.
The Department of State Services, Nigeria’s domestic intelligence agency, arrested the defendant on charges of cybercrime and terrorism regarding alleged plots to harm students and teachers.
Prior to the bail ruling, a fourth prosecution witness, identified as an intelligence officer, presented an audio-visual recording of an interview session with the defendant.
The court admitted the recording into evidence and played it during the open session before the prosecution formally closed its case.
The presiding judge ordered the defendant remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service and adjourned the matter until September 24 for the defence to present its case.
