Court Extends Restraining Order Against Continuation CJN Onnoghen’s Trial

A high court in Abuja on Thursday extended the restraining order against the continuation of the trial of the Chief Justice, Walter Onnoghen to 28th of January.

Justice Maha gave the order after a counsel representing the respondents told the court that his client had not been served, okay reports.

The court has now ordered a fresh service of the court summons to the respondents.

Before adjourning the matter, Justice Maha ruled that the order for parties to maintain status quo, still stands.

The implications of this order is that the trial of the Chief Justice scheduled to continue on 22nd of Janaury at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, may have to be suspended,until further directives.

Counsel to the plaintiff requested for a short time to regularize the services.

The matter has been adjourned to 28 January for hearing.
