Masari-Shema

A Katsina state high court sitting in Katsina has fixed July 14, 2016 for hearing into the suit filed by former Governor Ibrahim Shema against his successor, Aminu Bello Masari, and 10 others.

Former Governor Shema instituted the legal action against Governor Aminu Bello Masari and 10 others over the Judicial Commission of Inquiry investigating loss of funds and properties suffered by Katsina state government, currently sitting in Katsina.

Shema who was mentioned as respondent in a Memo on the activities of SURE-P, submitted to the Commission, filed the suit with number KTH/60/2016 before the state high court.

The state attorney general and all the members of the Commission were joined as defendants in the suit where in Shema is seeking enforcement of his fundamental rights to fair hearing among others.

When the case was mentioned yesterday, Counsel to the Commission, Hassan Liman, said his clients had been served with the suit noting that they are within time to reply.
