Court Grants Bail to Son Of Former Nasarawa Governor

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano State has granted bail to Nuriani Adamu, son of former governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Adamu.

Adamu was arraigned alongside one Felix Onyago over alleged N32 million money laundering.

Douglas Gift, counsel to the prosecution, told the court presided over by Justide Daggard that the defendants allegedly conspired to commit the offence in 2014.

Gift said that in the same year, Adamu allegedly transferred N32 million on several occasions to Onyago’s bank account in Kano. He said that the offence violated Section 18(a) and 15, 2 (b) of money laundering prohibition act.

Both suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In ruling for their bail application, Justice Daggard, ordered that the defendants must produce two sureties each. He added that one of the sureties must be resident in Kano.

The case was then adjourned till March 28 for hearing.
